World AG Expo
Feb. 13–15, 2018, Tulare, CA — PDI (Performance Diesel Inc.) was on display at the 2018 World Ag Expo in Tulare California. Travel from PDI headquarters was on Sunday February 11th. We left with a small convoy; Our 53’ show trailer with all the display equipment as well as the PTO dynamometer inside, pulled by the 2018 PDI Peterbilt “Imposter” with the new 2018 X15 Cummins running our innovative new add a turbo compound kit with a CARB E.O. Cummins fuel tune. The second rig in our convoy, a 2016 Dodge 3500 was hauling the John Deere 6430 tractor with PDI’s AG fuel tune in it. (Our office manager Autumn did a fantastic job in hauling this load to and from the Expo!) First stop along the way was to Little Sisters Truck Wash in Barstow CA, to get everything washed up fresh for the Expo. Later Sunday evening we reached the International Agri-Center in Tulare CA.
We began setting up the PDI display on Monday February 12th, set up process for this particular booth was 7-8 hours. Glad to have good help from Dan and Autumn. The display was set up and Dyno ran to ensure we were ready for the masses the following 3 days. With more than 1500 exhibitors spanning over 100 acres, it was by far the busiest show/expo I’ve seen. It was very much organized chaos!
Tuesday February 13th started off with a bang, with large crowds of people entering the Expo grounds, backing up traffic for miles! Fortunately we had everything shined up and ready to deliver! Many of the people coming in to see what was on display were heavy duty truck owners, as farming and trucking are closely tied in. Many of the folks we talked with over the 3 day expo were familiar with our PDI brand of heavy truck products, but were happy to find out that we offer a variety of ECM Tuning and Big Boss Products for Agriculture, Construction, Medium-Duty and Motor coaches as well. Another huge benefit for the residents of California is the fact that PDI is the only performance company that holds C.A.R.B. EO#’s for select products and ECM tuning.
There were also many implement and Ag tractor dealers inquiring about being able to carry the PDI Big Boss tuning, to increase HP and Torque for their customers, delivering great customer experience for them. We are in process of getting some distribution/dealer locations for the San Joaquin valley to serve the needs of Ag, Construction and Trucking customers.
As with all shows and expos, we were able to visit with existing PDI customers. It is always great to hear face to face testimonials from happy customers that have gained power, efficiency and reliability with our Big Boss products. One customer I had the opportunity to visit with stands out, his experience in using PDI Big Boss products was relayed to me in this fashion; The customer runs 3 trucks on a regional set haul. He measured his fuel consumption in gallons per day. After installing PDI products, he has seen a decrease of 60 gallons per day in fuel consumption! This savings he said is like getting up every day and putting over $200 in his pocket at the beginning of the day. It’s incredible to hear these customers’ real life experiences. Being at these expos and shows also allow us the opportunity to let our customers know what new products are now available and in the works.
Over the 3 day span of the World Ag Expo, we were able to run live demonstrations of our Ag tuning running through our John Deere 6430 and PTO dyno. We show cased a PDI fuel tune ($1,550) that increased the tractor PTO horsepower output from a base of 115 HP to 150 HP. Increasing the HP and Torque for a fraction of the cost! We held a raffle during the Expo where two lucky participants were able to take home a PDI AG Tune and Big Boss Exhaust Manifold. Last but not least was the 2018 PDI Peterbilt with the new X15 Cummins, up-fitted with our new add a turbo compound kit, running a PDI fuel tune for increased horsepower and torque. All while utilizing full factory emissions! Customers were very happy to see that we have options available for this new engine.
Early evening Thursday February 15th brought the 2018 World Ag Expo to a close. We began pulling down our display and loading all of the materials in the show trailer. 3.5-4 hours later we were just a few steps from being ready to start the journey back to PDI headquarters. The rest we would finish loading the following morning.
Friday February 16th we finished loading the tractor and headed out on our nearly 500 mile drive for home. After battling some of the fantastic I-15 L.A. to Vegas weekend traffic, we arrived safely to our destination just in time for the weekend. Thank you to all who stopped and give us the opportunity to show what we can do for you.
We will be heading for our next show, the Mid America Truck Show (MATS) in Louisville KY around Mid March. Follow along with us as we head to the official kick off of our truck show season!
